Dedicated volunteers have collected used wheelchairs across the United States and transported them to Restoration Shops where carefully trained inmates in seventeen separate correctional facilities have restored them to like-new condition. 160 of these wheelchairs have been shipped overseas to meet up with our team of short-term missionaries to distribute them in Trujillo and Cayalti, Peru November 5-15, 2009.

We partner with the Peruvian disability ministry, Corazones Unidos, which means "Hearts United". They serve by our side during the distribution and follow-up with each family after we return to the States.
A wheelchair is a greater gift than gold to the disabled in an underdeveloped country who otherwise face a lifetime of isolation and confinement. Our team of seating specialists and wheelchair mechanics will custom fit the wheelchair specifically for each recipient and train him or her in wheelchair use and upkeep. Our support and evangelism team members give each recipient a Bible and communicate the message of God's love for them.
Thank you for reading our blog. We would be very grateful to have your partnership in prayer for our WFTW Outreach in Peru. Please check this site frequently for updates over the next several weeks.
Dear Peru team, This is Judy Egleston trying to see if I know what I'm doing before I go. Are you receiving this greeting and being blessed with the idea that there is someone else on the trip that has very few computer technology skills? God bless you and have a safe trip.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Judy Egleston
Good job, Judy!
ReplyDeleteDear team, I am looking forward to meeting everyone. Is anyone else flying to Lima from Atlanta? I will be the one with the Wheels for the World carry-on and lost look on my face.

My dear friends,
ReplyDeleteCan I just say that I wish I were going but am thankful to be able to be sending the team with my prayer support.
"I always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when I pray for you, because I have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints--the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth." Colossians 1:3-6
Thanks for allowing me to go with you in prayer please give my love, hugs and encouragement to all my friends in Peru .... In His Arms, Beth

ReplyDeleteDear Old friends, New friends, Trujillo team, Arequipo team, Peruvian friends, Team leaders and those who prayed and sent me,
ReplyDeleteGreat is the Lord and greatly to be praised!! Thanks you for all your encouragement, support and genuine concerns in your service not only to those who were disabled physically, but to me who was having struggles emotionally. God sent me to serve Him and He wound up allowing all of you and the patients to bless me. What a presence of the Lord I saw in you and towards both me and the patients. I don't know when I have felt more loved and cared for in my life. To those of you who showed such precious concern for me getting home, I made it without problems and enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving Dinner with Keeper's Club and shared about the trip. That was on my way home. Now I'm getting tired and will check to see if I got any pictures of Machu Picchu and then retire. Again, thanks so much for being true servants of our MIGHTY GOD!!!
I Love you all,
Judy Egleston
